If AU, how is your character AU? That fateful night Damon managed to not get bitten by Tyler Lockwood and since he had given Elena his blood when she died she actually came back as a vampire. Klaus was killed by his brother and all was well. The bad guys were defeated and they had won. Except now his feelings for Elena have increased because of their newly shared bond. But that bond doesn't do him any good when she's still hopelessly in love with Stefan.
